Star Trek

You sail across the black sea of nothing
You’re shot at by shooting stars
You’ve seen the suns at their birthing
And you carry their burns and scars

I know you must have thought of my heart
As the seven-jeweled constellation afar
As it grew fiercer and less beautiful in part
Furious flames yet your way bar

You’ve travelled many galaxies
We are many light-years apart
But does distance separate us, or time?
Do you think you had a head-start?

Perspective of measured distance lost
But are you just as lost in time?
You can’t tell if you think of me or yourself
But the thoughts still are always mine

You’ve gone where no one else has been
You keep going, you know no rest
But you can’t retrace a second in time
Or know what you will be thinking next

You’ve seen all colours that are to be seen
All the magic in the black sea of nothing
But did you find what could set you free?
In this black sea of everything

Angry supernovas have baptized you?
Do dying white dwarves give you hope?
Did you yet see the poetry in the universe?
And did you finally get the joke?
