Star Trek

You sail across the black sea of nothing
You’re shot at by shooting stars
You’ve seen the suns at their birthing
And you carry their burns and scars

I know you must have thought of my heart
As the seven-jeweled constellation afar
As it grew fiercer and less beautiful in part
Furious flames yet your way bar

You’ve travelled many galaxies
We are many light-years apart
But does distance separate us, or time?
Do you think you had a head-start?

Perspective of measured distance lost
But are you just as lost in time?
You can’t tell if you think of me or yourself
But the thoughts still are always mine

You’ve gone where no one else has been
You keep going, you know no rest
But you can’t retrace a second in time
Or know what you will be thinking next

You’ve seen all colours that are to be seen
All the magic in the black sea of nothing
But did you find what could set you free?
In this black sea of everything

Angry supernovas have baptized you?
Do dying white dwarves give you hope?
Did you yet see the poetry in the universe?
And did you finally get the joke?

Loved it a lot! The lines make so much sense, are so profound and yet rhyme semlessly. I like the theme that you have picked ofcourse, and that you know what you are talking about when you mention time & distance.

And so we realize where we came from with a hint of where we're going.

Thoroughly enjoyed reading this.

There is always everything in darkness.. The black.. the nothing is an absence of illuminated vision to know why something which is lost cannot be found and what is found is assumed forever - dear. Sometimes, life seems never ending.. sometimes, it just ends and stops in the moment we want for eternity.
I read it as poet is talking for him/herself. Looking for her/himself, in the lane with s/he travels rarely.. but wants to travel more often and yet knows s/he can't cause... the shadow is not a reflection of oneself.
I loved reading it.. Keep on writing. \m/

Tapas - Thank you! Guess I was born with art and fed on science :P

Arka - Thank you! Trust you to find more meaning than even I know I had, cheers!

Ravi - Thank you! A shadow indeed is not a reflection of oneself, only the part of us that's blocking light :D

You've blended astronomy and poetry so well. Its like travelling through space and witnessing the insecurity of a lover. Great read!
